Progressive Enterprises Anything But Progressive says CTU

Fifty National Distribution Union (NDU) members in Palmerston North were suspended this morning for taking part in their union’s strike for a single national collective agreement across the warehouse supply stores for Progressive Enterprises supermarkets.

"The CTU supports the striking workers. The pay rate variability across the company is unfair when the work they are doing is identical. The workers’ campaign for a single national collective agreement is backed by the wider union movement."

"The parent company, Woolworths Australia is making a massive profit from the New Zealand operation, and they should stop their heavy-handed Australian tactics and come back to the bargaining table with a realistic offer."

The five hundred distribution workers, members of the NDU and the Engineering, Printing & Manufacturing Union (EPMU), who supply the 165 Countdown, Foodtown and Woolworths supermarkets across New Zealand began a 48 hour strike at 5am this morning.
